Patano Studio and Walker/Macy teamed to work with the City of Bainbridge Island to redesign Waterfront Park on the southern edge of downtown, fronting Eagle Harbor. The project included reorganizing the path system through the park and a creation of layered public gathering spaces for large community events such as July 4th. Patano Studio designed the Waterfront Park Pavilion, a multi-use structure that provides shelter within the park, an eating space as well as a performance space / shell. The back wall facing Eagle Harbor is a translucent panel that can slide open to provide views through the pavilion. The roof system is comprised of building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) that provide shelter as well as energy making PV cells.
