Patano Studio Architecture provided the architectural design for this 32,000 sf, K-8 private school for 250 students. The project included classrooms, full-size gymnasium, multipurpose room, library/media stage, music, kitchen, administration and chapel areas. The school was designed for future expansion. Constructed on approximately 10 acres, the school was sited for prime solar orientation. p+ developed the solar controls on the south facing windows, the roof monitors that bring natural light into the building, the exterior color and materials palette and collaborated on the programming and plan.
A metal skinned building system was utilized for durability, large openings and sun shades for energy efficient daylighting, and a dramatic entry to welcome students, faculty and guests. Careful attention was paid to daylighting, human scale and environmental comfort.
