Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Concourse B Holdroom Addition

SeaTac Airport is one of the fastest growing airports in the country. To meet this demand the port is building a new International Arrivals Terminal, redoing the baggage handling system and expanding and remodeling the North Satellite. This period of growth will take needed gates off line during construction. The airport is geographically limited to developable space and wanting to meet flight and passenger demand during this period of growth with creative problem solving. With limited ability to expand out, the airport is looking down to underutilized former ramp level office for space.

The project began by relocating two existing ramp level offices and restrooms to make a contiguous space for the new holdroom. The project converted approximately 3,400/SF of ramp level offices into a passenger holdroom for off-gate/hardstand operations. The holdroom is designed for 220 passengers and crew with an accessible access from a nearby elevator. Interior access is from the Satellite Transit escalator landing and a 225 foot covered walkway on the exterior. The holdroom has two family style restrooms, two charging bars, two check-podiums and a vending machine area. The holdroom is slated for occupancy early 2018.
